Gudvangen Viking Market 2015 - Review (Coming up)

Crazy!!!

People think you are crazy if you talk of things they don't understand They try to break you down instead of lending you a hand The world is ruled by dimwits, big numbers in a bank Your sons are blown into pieces while they're driving a tank... Honor, pride, humanity... have lost their meaning these days Money, power and bigotry... drive people off their ways... Your neighbor is afraid of you, behind his door he hides Young mothers hooked on crack, no men stand by their sides... People lose possessions, family, relationships over green paper All they care is reading about digits in a newspaper! Nothing to hope or live for, since things are more important... This monster keeps on feeding... it is no longer dormant! 25.07.2015 23:43

Wolf Hunt has to STOP!

Image
Local news are claiming that a wolf has been attacking sheep in some areas of the land and just leaving them behind... Since when does a wolf kill 10 sheep in one go and just leaves them behind?! What sort of Bullsh*t is this?! They are killing the wolves to sell their skin for 45000 Kr to TOURISTS!?This slaughter of wolves needs to stop! There are only a handful of wolves left in Norway! They need to eat, yes, but they NEVER, I repeat N E V E R kill for pleasure like humans do! This is the main reason behind the hate campain against wolves people, MONEY!!!

DIY Viking dress embroidery.

Image
I know I haven't been posting anything new lately... I've kind of been busy, with real life... away from the cyber madness!  And I have made many MANY new items! Seems like I've been working non stop... while jumping around and trying to find new material to work with. So, last week, I decided to embroider wolves onto my viking dress. I know I should have used authentic wolf designs from actual viking archaeological findings, but unfortunately all the wolf embroidery found looks like anything but wolves! So, I opted for a beautiful design by a talented artist ( © Ari-Usni.deviantart.com). Since my dress is really dark... I used a white pen to draw the wolves onto the dress as I could not figure out a better way to transfer them without messing up the fabric and leaving huge stains...  Another perfectly symmetrical wolf needed to be on the opposite side as well...  And here are the two angry wolves facing each other on the upper chest part of th

Summer is cancelled! So is human interaction!

This year, it seems summer has been cancelled in Bergen, it's the 6th of July and it's still very foggy and raining! Everybody I know is complaining... seems I am the only one enjoying the weather! In summer, it seems all Norwegians travel to a mystical place called Syden aka South... Where is that, you might ask? Well, if you look at the world map.... everywhere below Norway is considered Syden... so it can be from Europe, to Africa, to Asia to the Far East and all the way around to the Americas, still counts as Syden! Weird, right? The funny thing is, that Norwegians and Scandinavians in general seem to follow a pattern when it comes to travel and vacations... The elderly seem to go to Spain and the Spanish islands... they have everything Norwegian-Scandinavian there, shops, grocery, even the local people there speak Norwegian! What I don't understand is, why do they go through the trouble of traveling all the way to there, if they will end up meeting half of Sca

Making of a Steampunk Inspired Leather Bag!

Image
I have been wanting to make steampunk inspired bags, but I am still unable to find real gear pieces here in Bergen... almost all clock makers ran out of business, and the ones who are still in business are either not willing to sell any spare gear, or don't even have any to begin with... what a shame! I could buy some online... but I like to keep things local made, and genuine as much as possible! So yesterday, I was home alone once more, while the family decided to go on another mountain hike (it's a Norwegian thing)... I was bored, the weather was very warm, and I hate the heat... so I took an ice cold refreshing shower, and I got to work! I started by sketching out some ideas I had... but when I touched the raw leather, I had an entirely new inspiration! When I was a kid, I had a beautiful old style red/brown aged leather shool bag, it even had a lock... I got it as a gift from an old man, who forgot to give me the key... and died shortly after... I loved that b

My Crochet story...

Image
A year or two ago, I decided to learn how to knit... I was always amazed by all the beautiful things older people (specially women) make... and I have tried to learn it before, but I was always told "you're too young to be doing this" and that I might like it when I am older... much older. Hmm... I have given it a try around two years ago... but I gave up as soon as I started. I felt like my arms were like an old typewriter... having to shift from one side to the other all the time... naaah, not for me! So... I looked for something else. I tried needlebinding... the old viking knitting technique in which your thumb, a  needle, and 1 meter long yarn is used at a time... then you have to splice a new piece and so on... the only thing that came out of that experience was 4 hours of struggling with the needle and thumbs, with yarn twirling the wrong way... but I managed to settle for a headband instead of a whole cap... (I had lost patience by the time I had finished
